Chapter 35 - Light Goddess Butterfly (4)

Huo Yuhao didn't answer Chu Y directly. Instead, he began to release his Ten-year Soul Ring, and a golden glint appeared in the depths of his eyes. Immediately after, Chu Y felt a wave of spiritual energy appear before her.

Chu Y was naturally not like Bei Bei and Tang Ya. She was, after all, a level sixty Soul Emperor powerhouse. Although her martial soul wasn't of the spiritual attribute, her spiritual power wasn't low. For her to escape Huo Yuhao's influence would have been as easy as turning her hand over, as this was merely a simple skill from an eleven-level Soul Master. But at this moment, she didn't resist; she let things unfold naturally.

The moment she came into contact with this spiritual power, Chu Y's pupils instantly widened.

Spiritual Detection Sharing manifested, and just like previous times, everything around them immediately became clear in Chu Y's mind, making her feel as if she had just emerged from a dense fog. Everything was distinct, so clear that every tiny detail, even those hidden in hard-to-see corners, could be described.

A minute later, Huo Yuhao withdrew his skill and stood still obediently before Chu Y.

Chu Y was stunned for a moment before she muttered:

"A miraculous skill. No wonder Tang Sect chose you as a special disciple. This skill alone is enough to convince that little girl Tang Ya to pick you. I kept wondering why that smart lass would choose someone whose soul power was only at level eleven, and whose physical aptitude was also very ordinary. So, this was the hidden secret."

"Huo Yuhao, follow me."

As she spoke, Chu Y stood up and led Huo Yuhao out of the room.

At this moment, Huo Yuhao still didn't understand what was happening. He only knew that when he released his martial soul and used his soul ability, Teacher Chu had been very excited, but he didn't know if this was good or bad, and even less where Chu Y was leading him now, or what she intended to do…

As soon as they exited the Freshmen Teaching Building, Chu Y led Huo Yuhao west, circling around to the back of the academy. After walking for a while, Chu Y frowned and said:

"Too slow. Let me carry you for a bit."

As soon as she finished speaking, she reached out, embraced Huo Yuhao, and flew off. It was then that he understood what it meant to "ride the clouds and mist." The scenery around them blurred past, and a faint layer of qi seemed to protect his body.

Chu Y was clearly the most powerful Soul Master Huo Yuhao had ever encountered. This speed, truly admirable! He hurriedly activated his Spiritual Detection, only then able to vaguely discern the direction Chu Y was moving in.

She traveled west for a while, then turned north. Huo Yuhao had a feeling they had left the Martial Soul Department's area and entered the Soul Engineering Department.

Even at such speed, Chu Y still had to travel for several more minutes before stopping. The two of them were now standing before an enormous building.

This gray building was even larger than the other Teaching Buildings. Its total area was probably equal to all the dormitories combined.

The gray building looked very heavy and thick; it was probably not built with ordinary bricks and stones. Its exterior was clad in shiny golden metal. From within, astonishing clanging and rumbling sounds echoed. Even under Huo Yuhao's feet, occasional tremors could be felt.

Beside it, a signpost read: Soul Engineering Device Experimentation Zone.

Huo Yuhao's heart was now filled with questions. Why was Teacher Chu leading him to the Soul Engineering Device Experimentation Zone? What did she want?

Chu Y, of course, offered him no explanation. She released his shoulder and continued deeper into the experimental area.

The moment he stepped through the door, Huo Yuhao noticed that the entire experimental area was constructed from metal. Moreover, these metals were unlike any he had ever seen, all possessing a strange brown hue.

Beyond the door lay a long corridor. It looked somewhat similar to the dormitory hallways, but here, a door appeared only every thirty meters. Above each was a small plaque reading "Laboratory No. 1," "Laboratory No. 2," and so on.

Chu Y seemed to be a frequent visitor, as she navigated the area with complete familiarity. With practiced ease, she led Huo Yuhao straight down the corridor, stopping only at Laboratory No. 12 at the very end.

A silver hexagonal token appeared in Chu Y's hand. She placed the token against the front of Laboratory No. 12's door. A miraculous sight unfolded: a slot suddenly appeared on the door, just wide enough for her to insert the token. Huo Yuhao seemed to sense faint wisps of soul power emanating. After the token was inserted into the slot, a series of clicks sounded, and the door to Laboratory No. 12 swung open.

As the door creaked open, Huo Yuhao was even more astonished. The walls of the room were entirely made of metal, and a staggering two meters thick. There were sliding tracks both above and below the door, which explained how it had opened and closed so smoothly just now.

Once the door was fully open, Chu Y beckoned to Huo Yuhao, then pulled him quickly inside.

Boom!

The moment Huo Yuhao stepped inside, he was startled by an incredibly loud noise. A combination of shockwaves and air currents rushed towards him, making his clothes flap wildly.

Chu Y, however, seemed completely accustomed to such occurrences. She continued walking in as if nothing had happened.

The interior of this laboratory was truly overwhelming. Individual experimental zones were partitioned by incredibly thick metal plates. Chu Y quickly led him deeper inside, to the largest experimental area within. This was an open space, roughly two thousand square meters, enclosed by metal walls about ten meters high. Inside, several peculiar individuals were tinkering with something.

"Fan Yu."

Chu Y shouted. The people instantly startled and turned their heads to look in their direction.

Among them, a tall, burly middle-aged man frowned and strode quickly towards them. He was about 1.8 meters tall, powerfully built. His simple clothes revealed his robust and sturdy physique. Every line on his face and the look in his eyes gave one the impression of facing a towering mountain reaching for the sky.

"Chu Y, what are you doing here?"

Clearly, this middle-aged man was the Fan Yu Chu Y had called out to.

"Do you remember what you told me last time?"

Chu Y said, sounding excited.

Fan Yu replied with a pained expression:

"I've told you many things; how can I remember them all? If there's nothing important, you should leave. I'm busy with an experiment."
