Chapter 29 - Monster Teacher (2)

Huo Yuhao panted, growling as he asked:

"Had enough?"

"Submit my ass! Let me go!" Wang Dong struggled furiously, ceaselessly. But Huo Yuhao had used all his strength, even drawing on his soul power. And since Wang Dong wasn't using his martial soul, he couldn't break free no matter what.

"Are you afraid to admit defeat? If I had used a knife just now, you'd be dead." Huo Yuhao roared, showing no mercy. As he held Wang Dong captive, he now realized how incredibly flexible this guy's body was, even feeling a little soft. For a boy to have such a quality about him was strange, yet also quite comfortable.

Hearing Huo Yuhao's words, Wang Dong was startled for a moment, stunned, and his resistance lessened somewhat. That's right! His head had hurt just now, and though the dizziness didn't last long, they were standing so close. If Huo Yuhao had wanted to strike, it would have been as easy as turning his hand.

"I lost. Get up." Wang Dong said angrily, his eyes clearly showing defiance and resentment.

But Huo Yuhao didn't release him easily, saying coldly: "It's not that I couldn't have done what you said earlier. I didn't do it out of fear, but because I see you as my roommate. I know you're stronger than me. If you used your Martial Soul, I definitely wouldn't be your opponent. But you should remember, if you continue to humiliate me, even if it costs me my life, I will make you pay."

Seeing Huo Yuhao's fierce expression, his eyes even more terrifying than a soul beast's, the hatred in Wang Dong's eyes vanished instantly, replaced only by a look of fear. This person's strength was clearly inferior to his, but his spirit—Wang Dong admitted he couldn't match it.

Huo Yuhao slowly released Wang Dong, took a few steps back, and then turned to head back to the dormitory.

Wang Dong lay still on the ground for a moment before sitting up, then dragged himself back to the dormitory. At this moment, an old voice suddenly echoed beside him:

"You truly lost, not just in the fight, but also in spirit."

"Why?" Wang Dong spun his head around, staring at the old man, his face unwilling, and asked: "I'm clearly stronger than him. If I wanted to, he would absolutely have no chance of hitting me. What did he rely on to win against me?"

The old man pointed directly at his own heart and said: "Here. He has a brave heart, and you don't. To disregard death, not everyone can do that."

Wang Dong was stunned for a moment, then bowed his head towards the old man. "Old master, thank you for awakening me." After saying that, he immediately turned and headed back to the dormitory.

When Wang Dong returned to the dormitory, he saw Huo Yuhao had already begun meditating. He was about to say something but held it back, let out a huff, and turned to spread his bedding on his bed.

Compared to Huo Yuhao's difficult life, Wang Dong's was much better. His blanket was made of thick beast hide—he didn't know which soul beast it came from—and along with his cotton quilt, it looked very soft and comfortable. The wardrobe next to him was already full of his clothes and belongings, but some things were still scattered around. Wang Dong didn't bother tidying up; he just spread his blanket and lay down to sleep.

For the next two days, neither of them paid any attention to the other, each doing their own thing. Wang Dong was a little surprised that, apart from going out to eat, Huo Yuhao was cultivating every single moment. He could discern Huo Yuhao's cultivation realm, which only further proved that his own strength far surpassed the other's. And because of this, he felt even more unconvinced. *With this level of strength, how could he have won against me?*

Finally, this enrollment period had come to an end, and the new student dormitories were bustling with activity. Although each room wasn't large, only two people lived in each. Despite the noise outside, each room was very well soundproofed, completely unaffected.

In the past few days, Huo Yuhao had been cultivating non-stop. After his match with Wang Dong, he had come to understand many things. His victory over Wang Dong that time was merely due to the Heaven Dream Iceworm awakening and unleashing a single move.

This ice silkworm was truly not a formidable soul beast. The Million-Year Heaven Dream Iceworm had bestowed four skills upon Huo Yuhao, none of which were particularly strong. They were, in order: Spiritual Detection, Spiritual Sharing, Spiritual Interference, and Soul Shock.

He had already mastered the first two skills, having previously tested their power with Beibei. Spiritual Interference, on the other hand, was a skill that restricted or disrupted an opponent's attacks. Centered on him, it had an effective range of thirty meters. However, its current effect wasn't significant; with his present cultivation, it could only make his opponent feel momentarily flustered. Furthermore, he could only use this skill for three seconds, and it consumed several times more soul power than the first two skills.

Soul Shock, however, was the only offensive skill among the four, so its attack power was slightly stronger, though not by much. Huo Yuhao was able to defeat Wang Dong because he fused this ability with his Purple Demon Eyes. The effect was even better than he had imagined. Of course, it was also thanks to Wang Dong's lack of preparedness; if he had been ready, the effect might not have been so great.

Nevertheless, with these four skills, Huo Yuhao had, in a rudimentary way, formed the foundation for his future cultivation as a Control-type soul master. However, his senior brother had told him that in the first year, one couldn't yet distinguish their own type; everything depended on surviving the first year.

“Hey, it’s enrollment day today, and you’re still sitting here spacing out?”

Wang Dong's voice cut through Huo Yuhao's thoughts, jolting him awake. He had just finished breakfast and was about to sit down to continue cultivating.

“Is it enrollment day already?”

Huo Yuhao was startled, asking instinctively. This was the first time the two had spoken to each other since their battle that day.

Wang Dong didn't even glance at him, replying nonchalantly:

“Half an hour left.”

“Mm.”

Huo Yuhao replied with a sound, then closed his eyes and began meditating. In the past few days, he had become completely familiar with the operation of the Imperial Heaven Art; within half an hour, he could complete one cycle, and his soul power would increase slightly as a result.

Wang Dong didn't hear Huo Yuhao's reply, so he turned to look. Seeing the other boy already meditating with his eyes closed, he muttered irritably:

“He’s truly crazy.”

After saying that, he turned and walked out. He clearly hadn't seen the other boy sleep at all these past two days.

The doors of the white Teaching Building were already open, and new students in white uniforms filed in one after another. On each person's chest was embroidered the Shrek Academy emblem, a small, emerald-green monster.

Students of different grades had different colored uniforms, the colors matching their corresponding Teaching Buildings.

As Huo Yuhao rushed towards the freshman teaching building, a crisp bell rang out. He quickly entered and immediately spotted a classroom with a sign that read 'Class One,' and without a moment's hesitation, he stepped inside.
