Chapter 68 - Secret Trial Tower (2)

Demonic Sea, outside the restriction.

"I wonder what the situation is like inside?" a cultivator said.

"Who knows! No one has come out yet, so how can we know what's going on in there!" another person said.

"Perhaps they'll be coming out soon! I just heard that over five thousand people have died inside, though the reason isn't known!" a knowledgeable cultivator said.

"It's understandable that they'd die while contending for things inside! I really wonder what's in there, passed down from the Primordial Era!" someone sighed.

Since over three months ago, more and more people had gathered here, and few of them had left. After all, if they were lucky enough to behold some items from the Primordial Era, that would be great. Of course, the forces whose members had perished inside were not happy; they had no clues whatsoever and could only wait.

Inside the restriction, outside the Main Inheritance Hall, those observing from the outside grew a little suspicious when they saw Wu Tianjun stop on the fourth floor for over half an hour.

"Why did that person stop?" someone wondered.

"Go inside and ask him yourself! How could you understand the way a monster like him thinks?" someone immediately said, looking at him as if he were an idiot.

"Could it be that this person has high cultivation talent but doesn't care about other aspects, knowing nothing about them?" someone questioned.

"That's possible! But you shouldn't forget, if one can attack the next level, it still counts as passing! With that guy's strength, he could probably break straight through to the seventh floor in one go. Why would he stop at the fourth? Perhaps he saw something hidden and doesn't want to proceed yet," someone analyzed.

"Haha! So, his overall potential might not necessarily be superior to ours!" a cultivator suddenly laughed loudly and arrogantly. He stood in the Tai Cang Family's camp; just a moment ago, when Wu Tianjun arrived, he hadn't even dared to breathe loudly.

"Humph! What an idiot! His lack of interest doesn't mean he lacks talent. In this world, the strong are respected, not just those with professions!" a young man from the Demonic Race coldly snorted with disdain. Although the Demonic Race was known for their cruel and vicious methods, they were mostly straightforward; when it came to cunning, they were far inferior to the Human Race!

"Humph! It's not your place to say that! Although Martial Artists are respected, Alchemists, Artifact Forgers, Formation Masters... their status is also very high!" someone who disagreed with him said. This person's robe had a large cauldron embroidered on the chest; it seemed he was an Alchemist.

"Haha! When it comes down to life and death, who cares who you are?" the Demonic Race member above laughed again. Indeed, he wasn't wrong; if there were no fights, those professions were highly respected, and few people wanted to offend them, even wanting to flatter them. But once a fight broke out, there weren't many scruples; at that point, only strength mattered.

"Humph! Unreasonable!" The other person coldly snorted and said no more.

After a small commotion, they continued to observe Wu Tianjun on the fourth floor of the Trial Tower; he still hadn't gone up to the fifth floor.

Inside the fourth floor of the Trial Tower, Wu Tianjun frowned as he looked at the light phantom. If he wasn't mistaken, this light phantom was the remnant soul he had speculated about, only it didn't remember anything. Of course, this light phantom was different from the others; it had soul fluctuations!

"Why should I answer you?" Wu Tianjun asked.

"Huh! I just feel a familiar aura from you! But I really can't remember what it is!" The light phantom replied uncertainly.

"Then why are you asking me?" he asked again.

"Perhaps through you, I can remember who I am, and besides, answering me costs you nothing!" The light projection said with a hint of confusion. Just saying who you are costs nothing, after all.

"..." Wu Tianjun's face darkened. What was this guy implying by asking who he was? Even if he told him, the light projection probably wouldn't know who he was anyway. "Huh! A familiar aura?" Wu Tianjun then noticed that the light projection was asking him because he possessed that familiar aura. He immediately drew a wisp of Spacetime Power from within the Little Demon Realm. "Are you talking about this?" he asked.

"Huh?!? That's right! It's it! So familiar!" The light projection immediately said, agitated. "How do you have it?"

"Spacetime Power! You don't know?" Wu Tianjun frowned, wondering how this remnant soul could have no memories at all.

"Spacetime Power? I have a slight impression!" The light projection said, deep in thought.

"Since you woke up, you haven't left this Trial Tower, have you?" Wu Tianjun guessed.

"Huh! I can't leave the Trial Tower!" The light projection said indifferently.

Wu Tianjun's frown deepened. If it was a spirit artifact, there was no reason it couldn't enter the tenth floor. But if it was the remnant soul of the owner of this place, leaving the Trial Tower should be very simple! Could it be that the guy sealed his own remnant soul?

"Huh? Sealed his own remnant soul? Can't open the tenth floor! Is there something inside the tenth floor?" Wu Tianjun mused to himself.

"I've given you the answer! Can you take me to the ninth floor?" Wu Tianjun turned and said to the light projection, fearing there might be something on the tenth floor that even he couldn't imagine.

"Alright! I'll take you to the ninth floor!" The light projection thought for a moment, then nodded and said. It seemed it still had many questions.

"Have you ever tried to enter the tenth floor?" Wu Tianjun asked.

"I have! But something there prevents me from entering; the repulsion is very strong!" The light projection said. "Let's go." The light projection waved its hand, enveloped Wu Tianjun, and then transformed into a point of light, vanishing.

Outside the Trial Tower, the crowd saw Wu Tianjun suddenly vanish on the fourth floor, but the fifth floor remained empty. There was no point of light, indicating that Wu Tianjun had not yet reached the fifth floor. Yet, he hadn't been teleported out either, leaving the crowd confused and speculating.

"Ah! Where did he go?"

"He should have been teleported out by now!"

"..." The crowd buzzed with discussion and speculation.

"Ah...!!! Everyone, look!" Someone suddenly pointed at the ninth floor and shouted loudly.

"Oh! Someone's on the ninth floor again..." Someone said in surprise.

"Don't you see? The other floors haven't changed at all. That guy suddenly vanished without being teleported out, and now there's an extra person on the ninth floor..." Someone suddenly spoke, causing the entire crowd to stop their discussions.

"Ah! That's right! Floors seven and eight showed no activity!"

"It doesn't necessarily mean that person went up to the ninth floor. Perhaps it's a coincidence that someone on the seventh or eighth floor just advanced one level!"

"How could he have bypassed floors five and six..."

The people outside continued to discuss. Regardless, no one there denied that Wu Tianjun had ascended to at least the seventh floor. However, no one could offer an explanation for how he had ascended. Such a leap was something no one had ever achieved; even those heaven-defying prodigies had to climb step by step.

“Sigh… I don’t know how he managed to get up there. It seems he discovered something while lingering on the fourth floor! We can’t compare to that kind of monster…” A young genius at the fifth level of the Divine Realm sighed. He was also a heaven’s chosen, with extremely high talent, but when he encountered a figure like the monstrous genius Tai Cang Heavenly Emperor, he was not lightly struck. Encountering an enigmatic Ancient Demon Clan member shook him even more! This starfield is incredibly deep; all kinds of beings exist here! Even a top-tier heaven’s chosen like him had no choice but to submit to an anomaly ten years ago. Although that person was dead, no one dared to mock him. This was a form of respect for the strong!

“What kind of clan is that Yu Clan, after all…?” Xuan Yun Jue became even more lost in thought. If that person truly was also a member of the Yu Clan, then the Yu Clan’s background would absolutely not be as simple as people knew, founded by a Half-step Divine Venerate. “Ah! So what kind of clan is Yu Xing Chen’s main clan?!” His eyes immediately lit up. Once he got out, he would immediately investigate; that Yu Clan’s bloodline must be incredibly high! That would explain why their bloodline has revived in this generation, with various heaven’s chosen continuously emerging! He wanted to know!

Yu Tian Jun was swept up by the light projection. His vision blurred for a moment, and he was already in another place. Before him now was also a light projection, only, unlike the previous light projection, this one showed no emotion whatsoever!

“To reach the tenth floor, you must pass the ninth floor!” The voice from before echoed once more.

“Truly eye-catching! An early-stage Saint God! Those other fellows probably faced trials no less difficult, able to withstand Saint God-level trials without giving up, heirs of great powers… Heh heh!” Yu Tian Jun looked ahead and chuckled. If he encountered something else, like alchemy or formation-breaking at the Saint God level, he would still need time to deduce a solution. However, this was a challenge; let alone Saint God-level, even Saint Ancestor-level trials couldn’t withstand his attacks. After all, the trial’s light projection wouldn’t evade his attacks. With the power of Samsara, one strike would surely leave the light projection no chance of survival!

“Huh! Let me test my current strength! My new body isn’t fully accustomed yet!” He muttered.

“Just a quick test of strength! Insufficient qi and blood make it inconvenient to exert physical strength for too long!” The primordial soul said indifferently. Yu Tian Jun was indeed not in a good state to act right now. His Demonic Vein body had insufficient qi and blood, and his Divine Vein soul power was even more pathetic!

“Huh! Three punches! After three punches, we’ll go to the tenth floor and see!” Yu Tian Jun said confidently. His Demonic Vein combat power had absolutely surpassed that of an early-stage Saint God! Even with insufficient qi and blood, he would only need three punches!
